School Committee Candidate Forum: Jia-Jing Lee
Cambridge Day | October 9, 2025
Tomorrow is Election Day!
If you haven’t voted yet, don’t forget to cast your ballot—every single vote makes a difference for our schools and our kids’ future.
Here’s a short 2-minute speech I shared at the Cambridge Day Meet & Greet for School Committee candidates at Central Square Church on Oct 9.
Yes—that was also the day I met Pastor Kim, who kindly hosted the event and offered a few encouraging words that really stayed with me. I posted about that before—scroll down if you missed it ![]()
TRANSCRIPT
Hello friends and neighbors. I’m Jiajing Li, born and raised in Malaysia. I’m a medical scientist turned nonprofit leader, a lifelong learner, and a proud Cambridge parent of two. One of my children is neurodivergent, and through navigating IEP process, I’ve learned what it really takes to advocate for a child
in this system.
I’ve also homeschooled for several years, so I understand firsthand how different learning styles show up in real life. What I bring to the table is a deep commitment to closing the opportunity gap and making sure every child is seen, supported, and given, and to strive and thriving, not just academically, but socially and emotionally. Without closing the opportunity gap, we are not able to close the achievement gap. It’s just like growing a variety of fruits in one condition.
How can we expect a harvest? So I believe in joyful learning that nurtures curiosity, creativity, mental well-being, and life skills that truly prepare our children for the future.
Big improvements do not happen unless we partner together.
Families, educators, staff, and communities working together to make thoughtful, collaborative decisions. Having lived in five countries across four continents, 1 bring a global perspective and a strong belief in building a caring, inclusive Cambridge where every child belongs to and every voice matters.
